A private corporation overseen by a Board of Directors. DVA Ambulance, Inc. is a non profit EMS provider in the State of Michigan. The Board of Directors consists of members from area communities. The daily operations are overseen by an Operations and Finance Manager.

The employees of DVA dedicate their skills and knowledge to make DVA one of the best EMS agencies in the state. DVA has been a strong influence for the Emergency Medical Services system in Shiawassee County. Servicing the Shiawassee and Genesee Counties with emergency medical care since 1967.

In the summer of 1967, state regulations closed the local hospital. In addition funeral homes in the area were getting out of the ambulance business, it became apparent to the community that an ambulance service was needed. DVA was formed as a result. It began as a non profit volunteer ambulance service. Started with one cadilac-styled ambulance and 13 enthusiastic volunteers, which had a minimal amount of training consisting of basic and advanced first aid.

Today DVA Ambulance Inc. is a successful Advanced Life Support EMS Provider with 4 Type III modular ambulances, 5 Type II van-style ambulances and 1 non-transporting ALS unit and stations located in Genesee County. At the center of the system is a communications center staffed with Emergency Medical Dispatchers.
