ALS in the State of Michigan is provided by highly specialized care professionals.. Paramedics. A Paramedic has the ability to administer medication, monitor cardiac rhythms, manual defibrillate and use advanced airway procedures. These skills are in addition to those at the Basic Life Support level. When a call is received by our dispatch center it is evaluated to determined if ALS should be dispatched. Some cases in which an ALS unit is dispatched are for patients who are experiencing chest pains, difficulty in breathing, altered level of consciousness, drowning, overdoses, childbirth, trauma calls and all other critical unstable signs and symptoms. ALS is the highest care available to Michigan citizens and DVA is proud to offer this service to its communities. |
