Community Service
DVA Ambulance, Inc. participates in the Community Service program for those ordered to by the courts. However based on the very nature of our business and the restrictions and laws we are bound by, there are restrictions on this program.
How Do I sign up for Community Service?
You may sign up by our online form or by mail. A form is available for download on our web site. Sorry no phone calls or in person visits.
What are the restrictions?
Community Service workers are restricted at DVA Ambulance by the following:
- Workers who have one of the following convictions, pending or convicted are prohibited:
- Felony
- Larceny/Robbery (Armed or otherwise)
- Assault/Battery
- Criminal Weapon Charges
- Other violent crimes
- Smoking is prohibitted on all DVA Ambulance property, leased, owned, or otherwise.
- Workers are not permitted in restricted areas.
- Workers are not permitted in safety sensative or hazardous areas where there is a potential for exposure to chemicals or biological hazards.
- Workers are not permitted to bring weapons of any kind, including CCW onto DVA Ambulance property.
- Workers are expected to follow the instructions of DVA Ambulance personnel at all times.
- Workers must report any and all injuries to a Supervisor immediately.
What is the process?
Once your submission is recieved it will be assigned to a supervisor. Your information will be verified and the supervisor will contact you. If we do not have an opening or lack of work, your name will be added to a waiting list. This list will be based on time needed, date of submission, and deadline. Please do not contact our offices to check the status, we will contact you.
Why do you ask for all this information?
This information is obtain so that we can do a criminal background check. We can not allow individuals to perform community service on our premises that violate our restrictions. We verify all criminal history.
Am I gurantee a position in the program and how many hours can I work at DVA?
No. You are not gurantee a position. Its based on a number of factors. You can work any number of hours, but it may be restricted due to availablity of work.
What happens if I violate the rules?
Violitions of these rules or those of your Community Service Order will not be tolerated. DVA Ambulance provides a necessary and sensitive function for the community that must not be interrupted or endangered. Based on the nature and severity, you may be asked to leave the premises and not to return. In addition, any violition no matter the severity will be reported to your Court Appointed Liason.
